The Steps They Took

Former journalist Williams structures his story well, with dramatic chapter endings and telling images, such as one of an unhappily married couple: “when they passed one another in the hallway they separated like magnets turned the wrong way.” Readers familiar with the 12 steps of the A.A. recovery process will find a realistic depiction here. Williams has a sharp reporter’s eye for detail; in gas guzzler–loving Corpus Christi, Texas, the private school parking lot “looked like a Suburban dealership whenever parents assembled for a school function.” – Kirkus Reviews

This was an excellent book about two individuals who experience turmoil, adversity, change and growth in their lives. The author's style of writing is very captivating and I found myself having difficulty putting the book down once I started reading. The ending was great and unexpected. I loved Mr. Williams descriptive style of writing and the history of the area in and around Corpus Christi, Texas. I would highly recommend this book and can't wait to read more by this debut author. - Amazon reviewer

"The Steps They Took" brings together two despondent strangers who lean on each other for moral support. In the process of disentangling the messes their lives have become, each of them grows spiritually and emotionally into caring, mature individuals who can accept responsibility for their actions and forgive the people who wronged them. The characters are vivid and real. This novel is an enlightening read for anyone who thinks there is little hope left. - Cynthia Breeding, author

Scott Williams has written realistically and vividly about people, situations and a world that many either ignore or sensationalize. In doing so he has written a story far more interesting … He describes in an honest and compassionate manner (alcoholics) and their enablers … - Amazon reviewer

Williams writes as one who has seen this world firsthand and understands it well. His descriptions are all too familiar to anyone who has been a part of this world … His story is realistic in its details even as it comes to a kinder ending than many, in fact, experience. – Amazon reviewer

Haunted Texas: A Travel Guide

Haunted Texas: A Travel Guide

The book is as advertised: This is a good book for tracking down a haunted vacations in Texas. I bought the book for the paranormal draw, hoping to find a lot more history and paranormal investigation. But the book states right on the cover the purpose it means to serve, and it serves that purpose capably, so I'm not complaining at all. An interesting read, and when I get time for a vacation I will certainly be referring back to this book. - Raymond Jay Edwards, Amazon reviewer

The book was very good and it gives great information on where to eat and what to see while you are in whatever town you happen to be visiting. - Amazon reviewer
